Oprah & Eckhart Tolle: Awakening Exercise for Chapter 5: Dissolving the Pain-Body
Adapted from Practicing the Power of Now: Essential Teachings, Meditations, and Exercises from The Power of Now (p. 76–84)
The pain-body doesn't want you to observe it directly. The moment you observe the pain-body, feel its energy field within you and take your attention into it, the identification is broken. A higher dimension of consciousness comes in. It is called Presence. You are now the witness or the watcher of the pain-body.Here are three ways to observe and dissolve the pain-body:
-->
Watch out for any sign of unhappiness in yourself in whatever form—it may be the awakening pain-body. This can take the form of irritation, impatience, a somber mood, a desire to hurt, anger, rage, depression, a need to have some drama in your relationship and so on. Catch the pain-body the moment it awakens from its dormant stage.
Observe the resistance within yourself. Observe the attachment to your pain. Be very alert. Observe the peculiar pleasure you derive from being unhappy. Observe the compulsion to talk or think about it. The resistance will cease if you make it conscious.
Focus attention on the negative feeling inside you. Know that it is the pain-body. Accept that it is there. Don't think about it—don't let the feeling turn into thinking. Don't judge yourself out of it. Stay present, and continue to be the observer of what is happening inside you.

Oprah, Louise Hay and Me

Has she ever!!!
Who else has a motto growing up "Go Check the Louise Hay Book"?
I grew up in a household where whenever something would come up in life, I would have an ailment, a dis-ease, etc my mother would always say "go see what it has to say in the Louise Hay book".
However it wasn't until college where I really took it all to heart and really READ the entire book vs. just looking at the back with all the probable cause and new thought patterns.I remember it clear as yesterday. I was sitting in one of the college lounge areas waiting for my next class and my jaw had been so tight for the past few days and I didn't know why. So I asked my mom to look up jaw problems/lock jaw and it said "anger and resentment towards someone". So I sat there and thought...okay, who do I have anger and resentment towards? OH SHOOT! I DO have anger and resentment towards someone. I had just broken up with a very long term boyfriend when I found out he was seeing someone else. So yes, I was hurt, angry and resentful. So I spent that afternoon working on releasing, forgiving and LETTING GO. By the end of the day my jaw was back to normal.
This is just one instance where she has helped me.
I have given this book as a gift to a number of girlfriends who it has changed their lives as well. I remember my parents and I were running a non-profit organization called Capital City Model Mugging which was a full force self defense course for women and teenage girls to learn how to protect themselves. I had 3 girlfriends go through the class and at their graduation this was my gift to them. They were ecstatic! They LOVE the book.
Now I use the book to help people I connect with and use it on an everyday basis. Even my boyfriend's daughter who is about to turn 14 years old is on the phone with her friends discussing what is going on in their worlds and in their bodies. It is so wonderful to see that this book has not only changed my life but the lives of generations! That is POWERFUL! I carry the book with me everywhere.
I just love how the law of attraction is working in my everyday life. I know, like I know, like I know that this year would be my year to not only meet Louise in person but to really take off in my journey to help and touch the lives of many. My passion is to help women, especially young women and women entrepreneurs get to where they deserve and desire to be in life. I am myself working on me and helping others along the way whether it is personally, professionally or financially. I am sending out to give and I know that more will come to me in greater abundance.

When you ask a person who is your mentor? Who started you on your path? (Other than family) my answer would be Louise Hay and the book would be "You Can Heal Your Life" because it is true.
It is time to take 100% responsibility for one’s own actions. It isn't about what others have done to you. It is about you, your outlook, what you attract into your reality and how you CHOOSE to move forward.
I give Louise much gratitude for having the intestinal fortitude to write such an inspiring book that I know has touched hundreds if not thousands and will continue to do so. I know I will continue to promote her message.
Thank you Louise and Oprah for being and becoming such inspiring women and by getting the word out about how powerful we all truly are.
Thank you greatly for the opportunity to connect with you,
Shay Wheat
ps. oprah will be doing a show with Louise in the near future when I hear of a date I will let you all know!
